About the Team
HAQQ is building the AI Operating System for the legal industry. Our AI stack is the heart of the product — RAG pipelines, self-hosted inference, and document processing that turns messy legal content into something models can reason over. We need applied AI engineers who ship features end-to-end, not just demos.
About the Role
We're hiring an applied AI engineer who can ship production RAG, stand up self-hosted LLMs with vLLM, and turn messy documents into something a model can reason over. You'll work across the full AI stack and partner closely with product engineers to ship features that real lawyers use.
This role is based at HAQQ HQ in Beirut, Lebanon. We operate a hybrid work model.
In This Role You Will
- Design and ship production RAG pipelines — chunking, embeddings, retrieval, re-ranking, evaluation.
- Stand up and operate self-hosted LLMs using vLLM (and similar inference frameworks).
- Build document processing pipelines — PDFs, scans, structured + unstructured text — into something an LLM can reason over.
- Make pragmatic decisions on what to fine-tune, what to prompt, and what to retrieve.
- Partner with product engineers to ship AI features end-to-end, not just demos.
You Might Thrive If You
- 3+ years of professional engineering with meaningful work on production AI/LLM systems.
- Strong production experience with RAG — chunking strategies, vector stores, retrieval evaluation.
- Hands-on experience serving LLMs with vLLM (or comparable inference servers).
- Solid Python fundamentals; comfortable in a real, well-structured codebase.
- Experience with document processing pipelines — PDF/OCR, layout parsing, structured extraction.
- Familiarity with embedding models, vector databases, and retrieval evaluation methods.
- Calm, clear written communication.
- Nice to have: fine-tuning open-weight models, GPU / inference economics (batching, quantization, throughput), and evaluating AI systems with offline and online metrics.
